Dad and Mum will provide...

Mum and Dad will provide for them???

What is becoming of undergraduates, like this NTU undergrad, Agnes Lin, who think that their parents will provide for them??

Especially for their extravagant ways of living like busting $1000 bucks on a shopping trip?

Also, I find it disgusting that she says that it is stupid for students to find work to earn extra cash, isnt it even worse then sponging on your own parents?

I like the last part where she says that she will spend her first pay packet on a $4000 Chanel Bag. Like as though she will able to find a job of that amount as soon as she graduates and for all you know, with the current inflation going on, the price of a Chanel Bag will cost more then $4000 of today!!!

What's wrong with coffee???

It's been nearly one week since I discovered the unidentified contaminant in my tiramisu cake at a popular coffee joint outlet in Singapore. Decided to call the customer service hotline today, and I found out that the outlet manager did not bring up this issue to the HQ.

And I had to repeat all the details all over to this lady, who was in charge of complains and feedback. The best thing was that she chuckled when I said that I suspected the contaminant was actually the decor from the Halloween cobweb display?? Utter insensitivity!

Guess I would not be having Tiramisu cake for a pretty long time!

What''s wrong with the younger generation?

Another one of my ranting posts!

I can't just understand today's young generation. 'Soneone' called me earlier and before I could even figure out who it was on the line. She demanded to know where her product was! Utterly rude considering the fact that I am supposed to be mentoring the progress of the group. I have to meet their requirements, their this and that, got to do this, got to do that for them

I really feel that these group of people are overly dependent and expect to be spoon fed with information!

Of Stingray and linkways

Was walking from Dhobby Ghaut MRT to Plaza Singapura today during lunch time, and when I was at the linkway at B1 of Dhoby Ghuat Station between North East Line and North South Line when this young lady shoved a flyer right into my face and muttered what I heard "Stingray promotion",

Being in a rush but still corteous, I smiled at her and showed her a no thanks gesture.

Walking further past the linkway, I was greeted by another group of ladies who were also distributing the flyers, and when I walked past them, they gave me the same flyer in face approachh. But this time round, before I could say no, they told me that it was due to the linkway closure which will take place from 30th October 2008 to 7th December 2008 to facilitate the rennovation work at the staircase.

Haha... so the stingray promotion sort of evolved to linkway closure.

Moral of the story: Listen carefully...

IR online

An Integrated Resort (IR) is a Singaporean euphemism for a casino-based development. To date, licenses have been awarded to The Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World at Sentosa. These are planned to be completed in 2009, and will be the first casinos in the country

While waiting for the Integrated Resort to be ready, it is perhaps time to polish up your skills and learn more about the various forms of games with www.casino.de ; playing casino games with confidence and proper strategy, gives one the best chance of winning!

There is an extensive review of the various online casinos available. Online casinos allow players to participate in casino games using the internet. Players can play for real money or for 'practice money' usually through a software download, although web-based 'no download' casinos are also available. Players make cash deposits to play with the casino who in turn return any monies (and winnings) to the player if requested by the player. Virtual recreations of all casino games can be found online including Blackjack, Roulette, Video Poker and Slots. Online poker and bingo rooms can also be found allowing players to enjoy these popular games too.

The owners of the website hope that their website and casino reviews will make visitors capable of finding the best online casinos out there on the world wide web.

It is a pretty interesting website, especially the review pages, because, from that site, I learned about the various forms of virtual casinos and their descriptions. Do take note that is wise to be responsible for gambling!

Surfing on Sunshine...

I finally got my M1 Mobile Wireless surfing today!!!

It really makes surfing a breeze, I no longer need to look for wireless hotspots to surf!!!

And this is especially true for surfing in school!!! It's been coming to 5 years, and I have to admit that I cannot log onto the school's wireless network to surf. I highly suspect its 'FYEO' (For Your Eyes Only)

Let's just hope that the M1 service will probably be good and have a stable connection!

My blog is fake!!!

Can you imagine this???

I tried to register for a advert campaign and I got this reply:

We are sorry but the website you have suggested http://fireopal82.blogspot.com has been declined at this time. The main reasons a website is declined are:

- The website is a suspected fake.
- The website does not have enough link popularity.
- The website does not have enough traffic.

Wah... what you mean by my site is fake?

Halloween Trick or Treat?

Trick or treat?

That's the question I am still pondering upon after my visit to this particular coffee joint at Holland Village. Was with my group of AFT friends having cake and coffee.

Until I pulled out this long strand of unidentified object from my mouth after eating the Tiramisu cake. Spoke to the manager about it and he calmly told me that it could be from his central kitchen and took down my particulars only!

This makes me feel so disgusted! I highly suspect that this unidentified strand could be from the cobwebs decoration that they are having for the Halloween season?

Trick or Treat? Highly unknown! Just feel sick!

What goes up..does not come down

Despite the numerous reports on pump prices going down these days, have you ever wondered why are we still paying the fuel surcharge?

Displaying a receipt from a cab I took today:

Is it fair for transport companies to continue to implement such surcharges when prices of fuel have dropped?

It certainly seems like a move to pass on "hidden" costs, which is collectively labelled as miscellaneous, to us consumers!

Heritage Web Solutions

“The Economic Report” show to feature Heritage Web Solutions, a USA Based Company that specializes in Designing and Hosting Affordable Websites for Small and Medium Size Businesses.

October 22, 2008, Deerfield Beach, FL – The producers of The Economic Report are pleased to announce that Heritage Web Solutions will be featured in an upcoming episode as part of the show’s Business and Technology series on The Power of the Internet Supporting the 21st Century Business Environment.

The internet has revolutionized the ways businesses market themselves. It is essential for businesses, both large and small, to have an effective web presence. A company’s website essentially serves as their electronic store front, communicating the company’s identity to website visitors.

Today, there are approximately 970 million internet users thus making internet marketing the most effective way to appeal to customers from around the world. Websites overcome the limitations between countries and continents thus making a company international. Having a website also means that a business is open and reachable at any time and allows for quick customer response time.

But, it isn’t as simple as just setting up a website. The only way for a company to be set apart from other online competition is unique website design. Businesses turn to internet technology companies for the development of a professional and search engine friendly, website.

Utah-based Heritage Web Solutions specializes in designing and hosting affordable websites for small and medium size businesses. In business since 2001, Heritage designs all websites to custom fit each company, giving each client a unique, original and authentic design. Customers of Heritage also have access to custom flash graphics, Ecommerce development and assistance, database creation and management, traffic driving resources and more.

“As a global community, we are evolving into a technology-based world,“ said Brad Stone, Managing Partner, Heritage Web Solutions. “Rarely we pay cash or write a check anymore. More of our purchases are made online, or at least we research online before making a purchasing decision. Our checking, savings and credit card accounts are maintained and paid for online. Our socializing has moved to FaceBook, YouTube and MySpace. Our communications are emailed, texted or Skyped. Breaking news can now be fed instantly via RSS feeds to our computers or cell phones instead of waiting for the six o’clock news. The Internet is very much a main part of human society today.”

Indulgence...

Got myself a new laptop today.. same model at the one on Cnet

something smaller and more portable and of course more budget (recession coming liao!) .. I still remember when I was in the States for the Food Technology Mission trip, I had to carry such a big and bulky thing with me. Especially up and down the plane and having to unpack the lap top from the bag during check-ins at airport..

Compared to my other lap top, the new one is so small and light weight!

Taxi Uncle Woes 2

Today, got onto a cab also...

and the uncle was again complaining.. I seriously wonder why these taxi uncles always like to chat to me...

Anyway, this time, the uncle was complaining about how the staff in a particular hotel in town area refused to let him return a phone to a passenger whom alighted at the hotel, despite him knowing the room number of his regular passenger.

Pretty absurd, don't you think so...

Next time i board a cab, I must bring along this "Do Not Disturb" sign...

Reporting of Phone Numbers

These days, prank calls and more are getting monitored by the Internet! With Report Phone Numbers, it is now possible to read submitted comments and post research and opinions. Example of warnings posted by users:

817-759-1364 from Patrick
I received a call, automated at first, saying that my vehicle warranty was up and this was my "second courtesy call". I never got a first, and didn't recognize this number. I stayed on the line to talk with a representative, and when she picked up to ask if I wanted to extend my warranty, I asked, "Which car?" She said something about offering warranties for cars. I told her - louder this time - "You called me, you have my number, which car are you calling about?" Apparently they're trained to know when someone's got them in a corner, so she said, "We'll remove your name from our calling list, have a nice day." and she hung up.

I feel it's a pretty good way to warn fellow users through this site about possible scams!

Spinnovex again...

Looks like I am going to be involved in Spinnovex again for the 3rd consecutively..

Not sure to feel happy, excited or sad... Cos there is really, i do mean really, a lot of preparation work needed, coordination needed too!

For that few days of exposure, loads of hard work needed, but I really cant see any input from the people that are supposed to have hard work input.

Strange!

Match Made?

Is the world really facing the inadvertent fate of a greying population whereby there are lesser babies and more ageing or even dying people?

More and more dating and online personals sites have been springing up, for example USpersonals.com claims to provide the perfect Personals place to meet and chat for people looking for their perfect match.

Speak of a perfect match made in heaven…

Taxi Driver Woes

Boarded a taxi back to work today, as it was pretty much a long and tiring day for me.

And on the way back, the taxi drvier was raving and ranting non stop about the problems of getting married as well as the implication of the Women's Charter on divorced men in today's context.

To a certain extent, I can't help but agree with him that more and more women today are getting educated and place themselves on par with men in the working world. Are we having too much rights for women these days? If a woman was the one wreaking up havoc on the marriage, is it fair for the men to be responsible?

These days, when even credit card companies have tag lines that state "The Men don't get it..." It's pretty true, the men probably don't get it fair, and have lots to lose...

Cougar Alert

Cougar: not quite the big dangerous cat… perhaps in the same pussy league though..

By definition of Florida Cougars, cougars are referred to as older women who enjoys the company of younger men. These older women don’t have to be beautiful, or even have lots of money. All these cougars have to do, is like younger men. They are just like younger women, except they have a lot more experience and know what they want in life and are not afraid to go for it.

Pretty much a social networking site with an ‘alternative’ theme.

Revision of SP Services Tariff

I guess more and more Singaporeans are pretty unhappy about the SP Services Tariff.

Recently got an email about this online petition going on, it reads:

To: SP Services
With the drop of Crude Oil since Mid Sep which was never hit what SP Services claim of Crude Oil Future for Oct expected to Hit $155.00 per Barrel which at the point of claim highest it was at $120+ during Sep 08 which as of now have drop till below $80 per Barrel at $74.54 per Barrel as of 16 Oct 2008. But we are currently expected to pay $0.30 cents per KwH due to expect price of $155 per Barrel. which is more than double of current price. World Economics is into a recession and singapore is already into Technical recession having affected many Singaporeans this high cost of electricity is killing everyone especially the retail markets as many small retailers especially those from the HDB shops are seeing a major drop of business at several places are seeing business drop of at least 50% to as high as 60%. Will appreciate if the Government of Singapore could hear our plea and work on with SP Services to adjust the bills down. This little changes a month will HELP A LOT.

It was started by a David Lee (david_lee_t_w@yahoo.com.sg) and currently has 86 signatories on it. I wonder if more people will support this, and will such petitions actually work?

Will you be part of the petition?

iLasik: The modern lasik technology

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive laser eye surgery performed by ophthalmologists for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

LASIK information: The LASIK technique was made possible by the Colombia-based Spanish ophthalmologist Jose Barraquer, who, around 1950 in his clinic in Bogotá, Colombia, developed the first microkeratome, used to cut thin flaps in the cornea and alter its shape, in a procedure called keratomileusis. Stephan Schaller assisted. Barraquer also provided the knowledge about how much of the cornea had to be left unaltered to provide stable long-term results.

In modern times, LASIK technology uses what is known as the iLASIK™ Procedure, whereby the procedure uses two lasers instead of one, unlike in earlier versions of the procedure. In the first stage of iLASIK, wave-front technology maps the unique characteristics of the individual’s eyes. Then, an ultrafast, computer-guided laser creates a corneal flap. This laser replaces the handheld microkeratome blade used in older forms of LASIK and makes the procedure exceptionally safe. After the flap is created, the wave-front mapping data guides a second laser for vision correction. The combination of these advanced laser technologies creates a custom-fit procedure clinically proven to provide excellent safety and visual results.

The procedure is generally preferred because it requires less time for the patient's recovery, and the patient feels less pain, overall. So if you are at least 21 years of age, in good health, had a stable vision prescription for a year and have no eye disease, iLasik would be a good choice today!

Hygiene standards of Fast Food Chains

I seriously think that the hygiene standards of many fast food chains in Singapore is dropping.

Was at this particular fast food outlet that is famous for its fried fish and chicken fillets, and noticed that this server was not wearing head gear to prevent hair from dropping into foods, also using his hands to wipe his sweat and then handle food!

Gross... appetite waned...

Winzip coming after users!

Got this later today from the States

Apparently, its from Winzip, the widely popular company that claims to be the most trusted way to work with compressed files.
In the letter enclosed inside, which is written by a Alex Kwan, the company claims that WinZip computing has noticed that many organizations are using the Winzip software without a license or use more copies then the license allows.

The letter also stated that the the company will be calling up in the next couple of weeks for documentation of complaince based on the num, mber of licensed WinZip copies within the organization and the total no. of confirmed Winzip users.
Just a warning to all users out there if you are using unlicensed WinZip, it is time to move on, remove WinZip and install WinRar! Be warned, because according to Cnet.com, WinZip is now bundled with Google Toolbar and Google Desktop Search.
Certainly sounds like another Vuestar case upcoming!

Reverse Lookup

No, this is not some spreadsheet function in Microsoft Excel.

Wow, I should have know about this site,USA Phone Lookup , before I left for the United States. It really is the database that includes every active phone number, landline or mobile, for your reference.

The whole site does not work like the conventional Yellow Pages, but rather it operates by allowing users to perform a reverse phone lookup; upon keying in the telephone number to be searched on, the site will display detailed information like phone owner full name, address associated with the phone number, service provider and more details!

Amazing, right?

Inconsiderate Public Transport Users

Today, I encountered 2 different types of public transport users.

The first was on board a MRT train, when these ITE students were blasting their songs on their handphones with a poor sound quality. Utter noise pollution if you ask me, if you wanna enjoy your music, there is obviously an invention that is called the MP3 player, other wise, get yourself one!

At the bus interchange, people who do not queue up for the buses always end up first to go up the buses! Don't ask me why, but it seems that queuing up is passe! Then why do we have to establish a queueing system is the first place? Weird right?

On and On...

Lecture had been going on an on without a break for 3 hours.

Why cant we have a break to refresh ourselves, so that we will be able to concentrate better???

Just feel so tired tonight, don't have the energy to blog on more..

Sleeping in Park

The Newpaper carried headlines that a homeless man was fined $200 for sleeping in a park.

Pretty absurd, sleeping in a park could actually cost more then sleeping in some hotels!

Anyway, this could be a reflection of live in Singapore. Will you become so poor one day, that you can't fine somewhere to live and can only make do in a park?

The unglamorous side of Singapore tends to be overshadowed by the brilliant picture that Singapore has been painted out to be.

Sigh..

School woes!

Singpost Admail not solving root of problems

Opened the door of my house this evening to see this scene, someone ad distributor that just dumped advertisements conveniently on my plotted plants... HDB dwellers were happy when Singpost gave most HDB mail boxes a revamp by installing locks that only the post man could unlock to stop nonsense flyers from clogging up our mailboxes.

But at the same time, it started its Singpost Admail programme which meant that advertisers who wanted to place flyers legitimately had to go thru Singpost, as seen as the rates:

Now you know how much Singpost is being paid just to send just advertorial mailers to us in the mailbox! Just imagine the potential revenue if a single HDB estate was under such a scheme!

However, due to such a monopoly of the mailboxes, it has lead many 'entrepreneurs' to come with ways and means to overcome such tactics , they know just dump the adverts right at the door of HDB dwellers, which is even worse.

Isn't this even worse then clogging up your mail box now?

Leaving on a Jetplane with Skyscanner

Thinking of going on a getaway, a vacation from your stressed up life? Paris? France? Singapore? New York? Mumbai?

With Skyscanner Maps, your visitors can instantly see which are the nearest airports from their home to you, and then search for cheap flights by clicking on the map, which takes them to the relevant page on Skyscanner. And the use of the service is completely free. All the kind people ask for in return is a link to the Skyscanner website on any pages where the Skyscanner service appears. Sounds pretty cool to have such a widget on your blog or website, right?

This tool,Cheap Flights Map Widget, is fully configurable, allowing webmasters, like you and me, to easily display a fixed departure point, fixed destination point, fixed departure and destination, or an 'anywhere to anywhere' open search. Webmasters can also select their preferred language from a choice of 20, including Spanish, Japanese and Russian.

Another value added function of Skyscanner is that it is the most powerful and flexible flight search engine in Europe (which it claims), and provides instant online price comparisons on over 300,000 flights and over 600 airlines. With Skyscanner, users can browse without having to enter specific dates, departures or even destinations.

Soya Bean Exposé

The soya bean war in Ghim Moh market is getting more interesting as time goes by...

Sometime back I was there in the evening and was surprised to see that both stores were still open:

There was even printed posters to prove that there was indeed a war going on, as the second store had a paper with the words:

"Singapore cheapest homemade soya milk in Ghim Moh"

"Premium Candadian Grade 1 soy beans"

"Cheap and good and no price increase for 10 years"

"Old NTU cantten drink store spirit for 22 years"

Today went I was there at the store, there was an even longer and more wordy claim up!!!

Long story with plenty of words. Would not like to divulge more about it!

But it is even more obvious that this means war!

Halloween in Singapore

The halloween craze seems to have caught onto Singaporeans judging from the display that can be seen at this supermarket I was at today!

Pumpkins and other festive stuff on sale!

What intrigued me was the weird bumpy gourd in the right foreground of this pic:
Looks pretty errie? Doesnt it?

Murder they wrote...

Rapist?
Murderer?
Swindler?
Cheat?

Not some very nice things you would wanna associate yourself with, but have you ever wondered about the status of people around you? Would they have
jail records?

There is a online system that works in for residents in the United States to view online public jail records and have the relevant documentation at hand.

Using it seems to be a breeze...

What's wrong with Nuffnang?

Something is seriously wrong with the people at Nuffnang..

They have not been updating their corporate website at all... despite that fact that it is already the month of October. They are still having their page showing the featured advertiser of June and the feature blogger of August!

Is it due to the fact that there is no advertiser using Nuffnang these days, judging by the utter lack of campaigns around?

Bloggers, its really time to start making money using your own blogging skills...

Click the link... You can make USD 20 dollars by having a blog post.. and there is no miniumum cash out amount as compared to Nuffnang... you get your money via Paypal in 30 days!!!

In Cab Entertainment

I really dunno if I am WOLS.. but I was quite surprised to see this in cab entertainment system when I boarded a cab today!

It boosted various menus like Shopping, Night Life and other channels, more of a tourist guide... however, the content was very limited. And after awhile, the repeat of the same shows was boring and the bumpy trip made navigation of the buttions difficult and I got quite dizzy at looking at the screeen.
Maybe they should have free wireless in cabs... then we can serve the web anywhere! At the mean time, I would stick to having in flight entertainment on board the aircraft..

You can run.. but you cant hide!

Having difficulty verifying if anyone has a criminal record?

Fret not! There is an online archive contains a multitude of federal inmate records recovered in The United States. Be it New York, Ohio, New Jersey, New Orleans, you will be able to do an
inmate search and gain access to inmate records swiftly and easily with their database.

To clear or not to clear?

The recent emphasis by the media, especially STOMP, on clearing of plates in food courts and hawker centres has gotten me thinking about the question "to clear or not to clear", hence the title for this post!

Yes, it is a considerate act to clear the dishes for the people that will be using the table after you. Just imagine going to a hawker centre during the peak lunch hour only to find table uncleared and no clean place to sit and enjoy your meal!

However, if such a movement of encouraging people to clear their plates and utensils after eating, will the rice bowls of the cleaners still remain? There will obviously be lesser needs to employ so many cleaners and more people will be out of jobs. This can be observed in retrospect when we used to have parking tickets with magnetic stripes issued at car parks and when you exit the car park, there will be a staff stationed at the counter to collect payment. However, with the inception of automated and electronic parking system, there is no longer a need to hire such staff anymore! Even parking wardens have been affected to a certain extent.

Thus, should we clear or not to clear? To have dirty plates or no rice bowl? The dilemma is there...

Ring Ring... who's calling?

This is the coolest thing avail in the States! By entering in a phone number in the system on the page, you can Find Area Codes and information that tells you what the phone number came from.

f you need futher details, perform an advance reverse phone search and access information such as the phone owner's name, current address the phone is assigned to, and the phone provider that the number is listed under.

Get the information you need today and start avoiding those pesky callers and stalkers!

I feel so 'lucky'

In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned about getting a letter that was talking about sweepstakes!

And true enough, I was one of the 'lucky' few (and so were my other 2 family members) to receive a confirmation letter that was promised to a few of the 'lucky' ones.

See they even have a car to give away!!!!

The windows to the soul...

Our eyes are not called windows to the soul for nothing. Yes, they do enable us to see, without them, we would not be able to capture the sights around us. But many a times, we take our eyes for granted and not take proper care of them.

Eyeglasses not only enables us to see properly, they also protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays in the case of sunglasses or photochromic lenses. Besides that, glasses also serve as a fashion statement, which allows us to express ourselves to others!

Getting prescription glasses online is now as easy as ABC, especially so since ZenniOptical.com (which was recently featured on Fox News TV as well as The Clark Howard Show) sells Stylish Prescription Glasses Online from $8. You will find a huge selection of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (photochromic) lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. This portal claims that the are using the latest modern materials, manufacturing and marketing systems to bring their product direct from their factories to us, consumers! As there is no need for middlemen, retail overhead, they do not pay for or sell expensive, or even inexpensive, brand names, but only their very own manufactured brand which is ZENNI.

They also have certified technicians n hand to check each for prescription accuracy and optical clarity before shipment, which accounts for safety when purchasing glasses of the Internet.

Think its time for me to try out this service now…

Kinda like this pair:

A wide rectangular, pure titanium half-rim frame... best part of it all... only USD $39.95!

Introducing Advertlets...

I have been feeling really unhappy about the lack of personalized touch with my previous service provider, especially the way their CEO spoke in a “high up there” tone to me over the phone!

This humble blog of mine has been getting many visitors over the last year, and I hope that with Advertlets, the figure will grow to greater heights!

I like Advertlets because of the way the whole system functions, it is certainly more easy for bloggers to earn money without having a minimum of 20 visitors in order to qualify for campaigns like other programmes! The ads that appear on this blog now are paid according to the number of impressions they have and not by the number of clicks, which I feel is more reasonable!

Also, there are also opportunities for bloggers to write about services which another close Asian competitor does not have!

I feel that for Advertlets to even compete, on par with other programmes, it should have more activities for users in Singapore as well as maybe to have have options like ‘cashing out revenue using Paypal’! Maybe Advertlets should even have a Singapore office for us Singapore bloggers!

Nuffnang attempts to 'censor' Innit!

I got banned in an automated email from Innit by Nuffnang today!

Can you imagine it!!

I called their CEO today, Mr Ming Shen Cheo, Executive Director of Nuffnang Pte Ltd to seek an explanation... He said that its because that I am advertising a post for Payperpost which also I voiced my unhappiness on how Nuffnang has not been giving out ads and how they have not updated their website for so long!!!!

And in the so called automated email to me, the email stated that :

Where is the human touch, they dont even take the chance to explain about everything and straight away ban my account, this shows their urgency to censor what I wrote about them!

So much for being liberal minded, when they claim that Payperpost is not their competitor and that the only competitors are from Asia like advertlets and stuff, this goes to show how narrow minded a company like Nuffnang is!

I am so pissed!!!

Waiting for my cheque to come in, and I will transfer all my blogs to another blog advertising company!!!!

Smelling nice... not expensive!

The upcoming recession that everyone is expecting should not be deterring you from smelling nice and fresh, especially so since cheap perfume is available these days with the aid of the Internet.

Using this free to use online price comparison shopping service, which will help you to find the product you want at the price you want which helps you in saving time and money. Just checking out the website and I already found familiar perfumes names like Gucci Rush, Emporio Armani Diamonds, Clinque Happy. So cheap perfume does not mean unbranded wannabe kinds of fragrance… They are branded at the site!

So now, there is certainly no reason to smell bad these days! Who likes to smell like salted fish anyway? Well, unless you have a screw loose?

I am certainly going to check out the Clinque Happy range as I love the citrus fresh and fruity smell. Hope that prices will beat the Airport duty free shops, so that means more discounts without having to go in and out of the country! So that certainly means less hassle for me as a consumer! Another savings offered is from the exchange rate given on site, given our strong currency at the moment, there could be additional savings!

That Exclusive Letter

I just got a letter from some famous publication saying that I am one of the few lucky winners to get hold of this letter, the letter even said that only 1 in 10 households in Singapore will be privelleged enough to get this letter about sweepstakes from them!!

But the problem is, how true is such information when 3 people in my household already got the same letter.. promising huge winnings from sweepstakes and lotteries.. only when you start a subscription with them???

Another marketing ploy without using their brains?

The figures game

FDA: Tiny bit of melamine OK in most foods
I really wonder what is the basis to test for legal limits of melamine in foods...

In Singapore, we have the limit set at 5ppm whereas in other parts of the world like Taiwan and Hongkong, the limits are set at 2.5ppm! Even countries like the US do not tolerate melamine in foods as it is considered adulteration, as such the limits are 0ppm.

It must be noted that some of the foods that are found to contain melamine in Hongkong and Taiwan would have levels that fall below 5ppm which is the level here in Singapore. And as a result, such foods would be considered safe for the shelves here, but in other countries, would have qualified for a product recall!

So then, why do we have 5ppm in Singapore?

Are we uniquely Singapore?

The True Face of the Olympics!

I really wonder about the integrity of everything Chinese during the Olympics!!! Mind you... I am not being racist... nor have I forgotten my roots.. but the spate of events really leaves me pondering!

Firstly, the fireworks scene shown on TV during the opening of the Beijing Olympics 2008, had animations to 'enhance' the effects as seen on TV

Secondly, the little girl that was seen 'singing' during the Olympics was actually lip synching because the original girl that sang was not photogenic enough to go on National TV!

And now, with the spotlight back to the issue of melamine tainted milk in China, 'Several Chinese journalists have said it is becoming more and more obvious that the authorities in July prevented an investigation into the toxic milk coming out so as not to tarnish China's image before the Olympics,' said a statement by media rights group Reporters Without Borders.

So, isnt this evidence that 'face' is very important to the Chinese... They want face in everything they do... Really, I am utterly disappointed with them!

And now, I really wonder if the China Olympic gymnasts are really of a legal age to participate in the Olympics, especially since the Chinese government has said that they are of legal age and have produced the legal documents to proof so. But given the fact that we have seen more then fake eggs, dumplings made of cardboards and more food horror scares that simply put any B Grade Horror Movie to shame, what more can be said of any such legal documents?

Pet Owners: Where's your responsibility?

I seriously dunno what is wrong with pet owners!!!

Why cant they pick up their dog litter after their dogs have done their business?

This lady pictured here in this photo I taken left the 'black gold' lying around at the carpark area, which is so inconsiderate!!!

Please... be responsible!

Selamat Hari Raya!!!!

Selamat Hari Raya to all my friends out there reading my blog, especially to Auntie Sammy!!!!

Money Money Money...

Abba’s catchy tune, Money Money Money, is perhaps a true to life reflection of what money means to every one of us.

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

Soldier Dies in Camp!!!

Yet another shocking incident!!

The 4th this year to happen!!!

A soldier collapses after doing chin ups in camp!!!

Supposedly to be on MC, he still participated in the physical activities!

Actually this incident kind of strikes a chord in me! Since the soldier had a MC by a local government hospital, why is he still needed to go back to report and endorse his MC and medical status to the camp doctor, which has the authority to over write the hospital doctor's status??? Is there any conflict between a camp doctor and a government hospital doctor? Does a doctor in uniform have different views in the medical field??

Also, another point to note is that in this era of information technology advancement, why are the medical systems not linked up so as to assess a patient's full medical history? If we had a system that could link information from a government hospital to a MINDEF database, wouldnt that save a lot of man hours? Lesser medics required for endorsement of MC, soldiers need not go to see the doctor to endorse their certificates, doctors need not have to see such cases face to face and just review the cases from a computer on the network? Sounds like a possible WITS project here?

Something has just to be looked into this issue!
