Public Holiday Rest and Relax.. and Shop..

Being Hari Raya Haji today... I am glad that I am free from work!!!

So its time to relax... unwind... destress.. go wine and dine.. and shopping!

Had my lunch at Zhou Kitchen, Jurong Point!

After lunch, I bought what I had been eyeing for... a trench coat, complete with fur and down insulation...

Don't get me wrong, not going on a holiday to see some snow.. but rather for use in the cold room at the work place...

Ah Yat Tian Xia

Had a quick meal at Ah Yat Tian Xia at Orchard Central with my boss after meeting some clients!

Ah Yat Tian Xia is a new concept theme owned by the Ah Yat group of restaurants. The dishes here are typically served fast and are individually portioned. As what the manager says 'Don't expect stir fried dishes like hor fun here, as they will take longer time to prepare.'
My boss and myself settled for the Abalone rice baked in special soya sauce which was going at $16.80 each, with the second order at just $5.

Overall the food tasted okay. However, the visual appearance of the food failed to impress, with its gravy forming a solid surface (probably due to wrong temperature reached when incoporating starch or wrong type of starch used). The rice though had a liquid egg coating but was not evenly distributed and was not properly cooked.

Good for a quick meal.... but fails to impress me unlike its other Ah Yat singature brands!

I know I am really busy when....

It has really been an 'eventful' day with so many things occurring in just one day!!!

I really know I am busy when:
  • I have not logged onto facebook for ages!
  • Opened my fridge at home and discovered a whole bottle of milk that is not only unopened but expired!
  • Had not have the chance to try out the new sofa at home!

Are these symptoms of a workaholic?

Police report made..

I made a police report with regards to the threat that the Certis Cisco officer made towards me!

It is definitely not acceptable for such hooliganism behaviour especially by a supposed law enforcer.

I shudder at the thoughts at what could possible happen by his threats and actions!

Threatened by Cisco Officer!

I can't believe this happened to me today!
A colleague of mine parked my car at the car park behind my workplace in the morning.
The Cisco parking warden was making his rounds, my colleague called me to tell me that the officer was coming, however, the officer had already issued the parking ticket.

When I went down to check out the whole incident, my colleague passed the slip to me, and I told my colleague that I would pay the fine later in the day. The Cisco officer got onto his bike and threatened me to get into a fight!

Citing his words "You not happy, fight lar!" and he posed in an extremely aggressive manner, almost wanting to hit me from that distance.

I of course was not intimidated, and did not want to start any trouble, so I just walked away from the scene.

What dismays me is that Certis Cisco claims to be the most established in providing protective security for organisations all over Singapore, and yet, they are the very same people that acts like hooligans and thugs, trying to start fights!
It really makes me wonder about the 'professionalism' they claim to have in their core values.

Do parking wardens have to take such an aggressive stance to issue parking tickets?

Utterly 'Good Service' by Shell

Why bother to offer a service if you wanna give bad service?

I was at Shell Yishun Ring petrol station early Monday morning for a top up.

Seeing an old pump attendant, I decided to top up the diesel myself. After keying in my PIN on my Shell Escape card, the pump still did not dispense the diesel.

The old pump attendant then walked over and yelled at me "If you don't know how to fill, don't do it yourself!"

Indeed the service standards at Shell petrol stations has left me wondering if this is the kind of service is endorsing, considering the fact that my colleague also experienced similar treatment at another Shell station.

It doesn't help that Shell stations in Singapore are now under the management of 7-Eleven (part of Dairy Farm Group)! A mega giant with sub standard services!

Time to wake up their idea!

Scraf, anyone?

Was having Subway at Bukit Timah Plaza earlier in the evening, and I came across this winter wear sales at the atrium!

Guess its the holidays, and the sales of winter wear must be starting to peak with people starting to travel abroad..

I LOL-ed at this sign anyway:

Probably a case of lack of spell check?

Sanctuary gone wrong!

When you think of a sanctuary, you would normally tend to associate it with a protected place, a place of safety.

But that was'nt certainly the case when I visited Amara Sanctuary at Sentosa for a wedding dinner earlier today! Was pretty surprised when the car park there was filled to the brim despite the fact that I was there pretty early. So there was only 2 choices given by the hotel: one, valet parking at $6 or free parking at the open air carpark (which was not only dark without any lighting but full too!). So if you ask me, why bother to offer 2 choices, when you already know that one of the choices will yield an unfavourable result!

It did not help when the usherer was not too friendly ( I would even say rude) when I told him that the open air car park was full.

It is therefore surprising that the resort claims to offers luxurious accommodation, several innovative dining concepts, a gym, a sensational spa (opening soon), a state-of-the-art pillarless ballroom that can host large-scale meetings and events, and an all-purpose-built glass pavilion, but has a pathetically small car park and bad attitude staff to usher traffic!

I nearly ended up parking on a slope at the door step of a tourism academy, couldn't contain the disappointment and went to the Front Desk to voice my opinion. Was glad that the staff handled the situtation well enough and offered me a lot in the car park to park my vehicle.

In retrospect, I think that Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa should take some actions like:
  • indicating on the wedding invites that there are limited car parks
  • encourage people to take the public transport into the resort
  • or at least, get guests to park at another car park and offer a shuttle service to ferry guests to the location.

So much for Friday the 13th!

TGIF Prawn Mee

What a better way to start Friday with a nice bowl of piping hot prawn mee...

.. with prawns freshily caught?

Uncle Agony's Shark Fin Soup!

It all started over an innocent looking bowl of Sharks' Fin Soup over lunch....

Until I had to play the role of "Uncle Agony" after lunch!

A colleague of mine was disappointed because we went out for lunch as a group, and he had to foot the entire bill (which of course included the Shark's Fin Soup), after some other people thanked him for the free meal....

What could I possibly say? Except to share the burden??

The truth is out there.... there are leeches amongst us!

Been Busy

It is apparently from some famous Taiwan manufacturer, Chia Te!
Reminds me of the time I was in Taiwan during my army days...
