Song of the moment - Bizzare Love Triangle

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
Im waiting for that final moment
Youll say the words that I cant say

Oh Luke, How wise your words...

With the series of events that have happened to me over the last few days of 2010, I can't help but really feel how true the words of Luke are!

Luke 6:42 How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

If only people in real life were that wise....

Sterile Saline Solutions

If you have not gotten any gifts for your friends this festive Christmas season, why not consider getting your friend a bottle of Simply Saline Sterile Saline Solution for contacts if he/she uses contact lenses??

The solution is ideal for rinsing, heat disinfections, and storage of soft contact lenses. This solution, according to the manufacturer, may also be used for rinsing in conjunction with chemical disinfections. This solution is useful for patients with a history of sensitivity to Thimerosal, chlorhexidine or other substances present in preserved saline solutions.

Just some facts about saline solutions: Saline solution is similar to our tears. So the lenses will be comfortable to wear after soaking our lenses in saline solution. In addition, saline solution can also remove the harsher chemicals from the lenses. So next time, when we are out, it is better to have some saline solutions on hand as the contact lenses can easily dry.

Hydrogen peroxide cleaners have a great effect in eliminating grime and mineral deposits on the lenses. But there is also a problem that if not rinsed well after cleaning, people may feel their eyes in intense discomforts. And people should also be careful to store it well.

Forget Acuvue and give it a try today!

The most embarrassing dining experience ever!!

Let’s just put it simply:

Received a phone call from 2 friends, L and V at about 2 plus pm asking me out for dinner.

We went to this eating-place at some heavy Vehicle Park at Bukit Batok called 818 Kopitiam. Was told by my friend V that they are able to accept credit cards / Nets payment, so we dined heartily!

When we were about to settle the bill, we realized to our horror, they did not accept credit cards/ Net payment… How brilliant. And to make things worse, V did not have his wallet with him and L did not have enough cash with me. I was just basically stuck with cards and more…. Which just didn’t make things look better!

So in a panic, we called our mutual friend J1 who was in town with other friends, he told us that he will arrive probably in 45 minutes. So I decided to call another friend, J2, who was just living nearby, but he was sleeping, and only responded to my call for help much later.

So L and V left the scene, leaving me alone at the place… and it was only much later that J1 and J2 came… So embarrassing!!!

Moral of the story: Cash is king!

Got this memo affixed to the wind screen of the car:

"Dear resident, please be considerate! Do not use soap water to wash your cars here as it kills the grasses!"

Looked around at the other cars.. all had the same memo affixed.

Guess the situation is pretty bad, judging from this pic:

Taxi Taxi Taxi

Just got into a 'pissified' mood after knocking off from work... Yea.. we all should be happy and smiling after knocking off from work....

But that was not the case today... Totally spoilt by the guys from SMRT!

Booked a cab via phone and was told that it would arrive in 7 minutes.

Waited at designated pick up point for more then 30 minutes, no sign of cab.

When I had to call back the hotline to check on status of cab, I was put on hold nearly 15 minutes to speak to the operator, who sounded so inexperienced, and she tried contacting the taxi driver, but to no avail..

Heck, the taxi driver must have picked up another customer!

She assured me another taxi arriving in 5-8 minutes...

This time that taxi did arrive...

But the journey back home was horrendous... The taxi driver kept fiddling with his iPhone and the whole journey was full of abrupt braking... makes it feel like riding a camel..

Anyway... thank god I found these web hosting coupons

Three Things that made me smile...

Gosh... This post is so inspired by Class 95 Deejay Jean Danker's programme Car Tunes!

Anyway... 3 things that made me smile today:

1) A friendly taxi uncle that paused his meter today for me before I reached my destination: home! A small little gesture... but after a tiring day of work... such a little gesture really brings a smile to my face! Not forgetting that my vehicle has been down for a week!!!

2) Complimentary mushroom soup by the nice people at my fave Buttercake n Cream... imagine how much wonder that warmed me up on a slightly drizzling evening!

3) An interesting cookie ice cream sandwich that came as a surprise dessert...

Glad to be back safely...

I am so glad to be back home safely after driving home in the rain...

As torrential rains poured down from the heavens, visibility levels dropped, and there was a bad jam on the expressway... so I had to take the old route back home.

Bad choice, flooding had already started to occur, and splashes of water was splashed up by cars in the opposite direction, resulting in even worse visibility!

Worse of all, drivers in poor visibility that switch on their hazard lights, which is even more confusing to other road users..

Whatever it is, I am just glad to be back safe and sound!

Xiao Long Bao @ Paradise Dynasty...

I had really been intrigued by their ads depiciting the rainbow colured xiao long bao for a long time!

Finally had a chance to try!

But tried only one variant: the crab roe xiao long bao... which was a little disappointing.. cos of its unpleasant fishy notes..

Other then that... the decor and ambience of the place was great...

So was my beef brisket la mian!

Of flags and wear

The Singapore Water Polo boys are certainly making waves with their Singapore flag inspired trunks..
Refer to this picture from ST:Disrespectful to wear the flag as trunks?

Anyway... the incident reminded me of popular actress Zhao Wei when she wore the infamous Japanese military flag dress in 2004:

On a separate note, here are other interesting forms of flag inspired undergarments:

So are we a little too conservative with our flag?

$300k - it was an honest mistake?

A new way to count bus fares?

Our local public transport bus companies have overcharged commuters by $300K since 3 July 2010. For those who have travelled on these buses routes.

The LTA and the public transport operators have completed system-wide checks on distances between bus stop pairs. Some discrepancies were discovered and they will all be corrected by 26 November 2010.

If you had travelled along the affected bus stops between 3 July and 25 November 2010, you may be affected by the distance discrepancies.

Check out if you were overcharged

Problem with Maybank Banking Token

Had not accessed my Maybank Internet banking account for some time and was pretty surprised that I could not gain access to it even after I had keyed in the password from my security token.

It did not help that the security token was locked after I keyed in the password from the security token wrongly after 3 trials.

Called up Maybank and they told me that due to inactivity of account, the security token might lose its synchronization with the bank's system resulting in wrong password being displayed....

So does it make better sense to opt for SMS-based security password instead of the security token?

Money.. money.. money..

“I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball .”

God, I hope it rains.

The clouds have been
hanging around
for a time;
I've been walking these streets
for ages:
God, I hope it rains.

These city streets
will be flushed
and cleansed -
the grime
will be washed
and will be trod back
on bootheels.
God, I hope it rains.

My eyes are weary
but my feet have
quit complaining,
and my head is full of tears
my eyes won't loose.
God, I hope it rains
on this dry and horrid noose.

I'm willing it to rain,
because these clouds
look far too servile
to drop their loads,
and my mind needs
relief from this heat.

Don't be so proud:
give in
to the weight
pulling you down:
that way,
I could give this sadness eyes
and feed it
what it wants.

Google Doodle

Done any Googling today? If so, you might notice Google’s got a new doodle up on its home page.

Despite the look, the Google doodle doesn’t have anything to do with International Talk Like a Pirate Day. That glorious "holiday" is celebrated in September.

The pirate-themed doodle is all about the commemoration of Robert Louis Stevenson’s birthday. If the Scottish author known for "Treasure Island," "Kidnapped" and other classics were still alive today, he’d be 160 years old.

Remember the 1989 comedy film. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids? It was the directorial debut of Joe Johnston and the movie was released through Walt Disney Pictures and Silver Screen Partners III. The film tells the story of a professor who accidentally shrinks his kids and his neighbor's kids to 1/4 of an inch with his electro-magnetic shrink ray and sends them out into the backyard with the trash together with a whole load full of adventure and laughter!

Just imagine if you could do the same to your bills?

Not to worry, here's introducing BillShrink!

BillShrink is a free cost-savings tool that works continuously to save you money on your everyday expenses, from fuel to household groceries and even your telephone bill! Given the vast number of complex offers and plans, such as those from the major mobile carriers, like Sprint, and credit card issuers, chances are pretty high that consumers are paying much more than they really need to.

Billshrink makes it simpler to compare what you need and what you already have to what suppliers are offering. This translates to significant savings! Check out a sample of their comparison on cell phone plans by Sprint!

Polyethylene in face wash?

Doesn't sound too good, right?
But that's the truth when I went through the list of ingredients on this face scrub! And polyethylene is the second major ingredient after water...

So does that make your face as smooth as plastic?

Oh Behave, Lenn!

Not sure if anyone still remembers this...

But I recall that there was a time when I was still in ACJC, someone actually 'vandalized' the grass field with the words 'Oh Behave, Lenn!"

Not sure if those words can be used in times like this when ACJC have been in the news for all the bad publicity, from the Birthday celeberations gone wrong... to the more recent case of the video of two female Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) students having a steamy tryst in one of the school’s toilets.
