Followed by prawns in herbal soup:

Braised duck feet and fish maw:

Lobster with vermicelli:
A huge crab (1.6kg to be exact) stir fried with salted egg yolk:

Baked Japanese snails with cheese (they look like apple snails if you ask me):

Lack of Privacy on Taxis

I was going back home earlier and decided to call for a cab...

Spoke to the operator and confirmed my location and destination and was put on hold for a long time.

A vacant cab happened to pass by and stopped for me, so being very tired and eager to get home, I just boarded the cab.

Halfway into the expressway, my handphone rang with an unknown number flashing on its screen. When I picked up, a cab driver claimed to be waiting at my location for a period of time already.

I am pretty surprised that cab drivers have access to their customers contacts via the booking system. Is there a breach of privacy in such a scenario?

Goodbye Aunt

My eldest aunt passed away today whilst in hospital during a check up.

Can't help but feel sad, I guess having to pen down the emotional aspects of dealing with the lost of a loved one is pretty difficult!

My memories of my aunt has always been pleasant and I remember her doting on me when I was a young child. May the memories of my aunt stay in the hearts of all friends and relatives forever!

Sweet Sunday...

Experienced working like a tornado on a Sunday..

And to sweeten things... Had lunch with my colleagues at Owen Restaurant at Turf City..

and we headed to Buttercake N Cream near my place for sinful desserts...

I managed to try the apple and rhubarb crumble, which is so different from the other version I had..

The crumble is so crispy and crunchy.. and the apple a wonderful balance of sweet and sour!

Jumping Prawns

Was at Crystal Jade at Causeway Point yesterday, and they were having this steamboat promotion, which I settled for eventually..

Part of the deal was this:

100gm of free live prawns for each customer!

Not bad a deal.. until I realised that the prawns were indeed alive...

They were still struggling despite the fact that they were skewered!

I must admit that while I am quite a fan of live seafood.. having to see my food still struggling on the table is definitely a turn off... especially you are in a dilemma whether to let the prawn stop struggling first.. or to put them into the hot steam boat soap to cut short the suffering! If you ask me, the livestock should be killed in one sharp blow and not left to be tortured by having a skewer poked into it and left to struggle!

Wonder if this is it considered refined food culture as what Crystal Jade claims, or is such suffering of live stock on the dining table part of their " total dining experience through delectable dishes, excellent service & comfortable ambience."
