What a disappointment, UOB!

Was on the way to work, when I decided to pop by the petrol station to top up my vehicle.

When I was about to settle my payment, the cashier told another customer that there was something wrong with the card terminal. The other customer called UOB card centre and was informed that the terminal was down and would be up and running in 10 mins.

So we were left there waiting for the terminal to be up. 30 mins later, the terminal was still not up.... and the cashier was still trying frantically to solve the problem.

I find it strange that the people at the UOB card centre make empty promises to solve problems.

The goodness of raw food

Had a seafood sampling session today...

Most of the seafood were served sashimi style... on a bed of ice... so that we would be able to savour the true intrinsic flavours of the seafood!

US conch meat with prawns
Geoduck meat on the left and Giant Conch meat on the right:
After being a little primitive, we had other items like

Steamed mantis shrimps:

Steamed bamboo clams:

Braised Giant Conch Meat:

This is such a brain wrecker...

... can you actually figure out what is it?

Can you answer the following questions in one word?

1. The word has seven letters....
2. Preceded God...
3. Greater than God...
4. More Evil than the devil...
5. All poor people have it...
6. Wealthy people need it....
7. If you eat it, you will die.

Did you figure it out?

NOTHING!
NOTHING has 7 letters.
NOTHING preceded God.
NOTHING is greater than God.
NOTHING is more Evil than the devil.
All poor people have NOTHING.
Wealthy people need NOTHING.
If you eat NOTHING, you will die

A thoughtful email

This is the most beautiful advice I have ever received in an email .... Please don't close or delete this one before reading!

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain.. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice..'

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day un rushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a good book with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to inspiration while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Try to nip small problems in the bud.
24. Make friends with good people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite readings/sayings on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you, (God, Jesus, Father, Mother, Lord...)'
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36 Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.
'If God is for us, who can be against us?'

(Romans8:31)

The dwindling flame...

Thought of the day:

trust is like a sacred flame... once it disappears, the promises and all will follow suit!

Need I say more....

Life is like a stage....

.... like a getai stage....

How so???

Well... after a whole day of darting from place to place...

I just can't help feel that my day is like those of a getai singer rushing from place to place to perform!

Oh... so familliar... but not so...

I went to this cafe that I always used to go...

It has changed management.... but the staff are still there...

Somehow or rather, I feel that the standard of the food has changed...
Being in the food industry, loads of people often fail to realise that running a cafe / food service line is indeed not easy.

Surroundings can influence one easily, which is why sensory labs often have white walls to prevent any possible influence from colours/ambience.

The steps used to make a food also influences its taste; like if you add sauce/dressing to a crepe too early, the result will be a soggy crepe!

Lastly, the most important ingredient is love and passion. These are most important ingredients, just like how a dash of salt and pepper can spice up your meals. Without love and passion, most meals would be without that extra oomph!

Just my 2 cents worth... wonder if I will have to get used to changes....

Stuck with a faulty disk drive?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Transparen. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever been caught in a scenario with a spoilt/corrupted/fautly hard disk and you have loads and loads of important information or even your precious photo collage? Upon looking up conventional data recovery services, you realise that it will not only take time but also cost you more then a bomb to restore your hard disk into its original condition?

Ever been in that helpless state and just wished that recovering your data should be a breeze?

Well, the good news is that transparen corporation provides services to help businesses (both large and small) manage technological risk and uncertainty. You might be even more pleased to know that the clients of Transparen Corporation include airlines, research firms, engineering firms, law firms, software companies, investment houses, retail firms, brokerages, manufacturing organizations, universities, and consultants.

They do have something interesting for photography enthusiasts/wannabes! For those that are interested in data recovery of their photos, or if their data is carried around in a USB drive that failed, then they would be interested to know more about their SDRAM/USB data recovery, which is a guaranteed program that costs $20 to recover the data off the SDRAM card or USB drive. All you would need to do is to send it in along with payment, and they will send the data back, guaranteed!

Amazing!
