Glad to be back safely...

I am so glad to be back home safely after driving home in the rain...

As torrential rains poured down from the heavens, visibility levels dropped, and there was a bad jam on the expressway... so I had to take the old route back home.

Bad choice, flooding had already started to occur, and splashes of water was splashed up by cars in the opposite direction, resulting in even worse visibility!

Worse of all, drivers in poor visibility that switch on their hazard lights, which is even more confusing to other road users..

Whatever it is, I am just glad to be back safe and sound!

Xiao Long Bao @ Paradise Dynasty...

I had really been intrigued by their ads depiciting the rainbow colured xiao long bao for a long time!

Finally had a chance to try!

But tried only one variant: the crab roe xiao long bao... which was a little disappointing.. cos of its unpleasant fishy notes..

Other then that... the decor and ambience of the place was great...

So was my beef brisket la mian!

Of flags and wear

The Singapore Water Polo boys are certainly making waves with their Singapore flag inspired trunks..
Refer to this picture from ST:Disrespectful to wear the flag as trunks?

Anyway... the incident reminded me of popular actress Zhao Wei when she wore the infamous Japanese military flag dress in 2004:

Anyway..

On a separate note, here are other interesting forms of flag inspired undergarments:

So are we a little too conservative with our flag?

$300k - it was an honest mistake?

A new way to count bus fares?

Our local public transport bus companies have overcharged commuters by $300K since 3 July 2010. For those who have travelled on these buses routes.

The LTA and the public transport operators have completed system-wide checks on distances between bus stop pairs. Some discrepancies were discovered and they will all be corrected by 26 November 2010.

If you had travelled along the affected bus stops between 3 July and 25 November 2010, you may be affected by the distance discrepancies.

Check out if you were overcharged

Problem with Maybank Banking Token

Had not accessed my Maybank Internet banking account for some time and was pretty surprised that I could not gain access to it even after I had keyed in the password from my security token.

It did not help that the security token was locked after I keyed in the password from the security token wrongly after 3 trials.

Called up Maybank and they told me that due to inactivity of account, the security token might lose its synchronization with the bank's system resulting in wrong password being displayed....

So does it make better sense to opt for SMS-based security password instead of the security token?

Money.. money.. money..

“I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball .”

God, I hope it rains.

The clouds have been
hanging around
for a time;
I've been walking these streets
for ages:
God, I hope it rains.

These city streets
will be flushed
and cleansed -
the grime
will be washed
downhill
and will be trod back
on bootheels.
God, I hope it rains.

My eyes are weary
but my feet have
quit complaining,
and my head is full of tears
my eyes won't loose.
God, I hope it rains
on this dry and horrid noose.

I'm willing it to rain,
because these clouds
look far too servile
to drop their loads,
and my mind needs
relief from this heat.

Don't be so proud:
give in
to the weight
pulling you down:
that way,
I could give this sadness eyes
and feed it
what it wants.

Google Doodle

Done any Googling today? If so, you might notice Google’s got a new doodle up on its home page.

Despite the look, the Google doodle doesn’t have anything to do with International Talk Like a Pirate Day. That glorious "holiday" is celebrated in September.

The pirate-themed doodle is all about the commemoration of Robert Louis Stevenson’s birthday. If the Scottish author known for "Treasure Island," "Kidnapped" and other classics were still alive today, he’d be 160 years old.

Billshrink

Remember the 1989 comedy film. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids? It was the directorial debut of Joe Johnston and the movie was released through Walt Disney Pictures and Silver Screen Partners III. The film tells the story of a professor who accidentally shrinks his kids and his neighbor's kids to 1/4 of an inch with his electro-magnetic shrink ray and sends them out into the backyard with the trash together with a whole load full of adventure and laughter!

Just imagine if you could do the same to your bills?

Not to worry, here's introducing BillShrink!

BillShrink is a free cost-savings tool that works continuously to save you money on your everyday expenses, from fuel to household groceries and even your telephone bill! Given the vast number of complex offers and plans, such as those from the major mobile carriers, like Sprint, and credit card issuers, chances are pretty high that consumers are paying much more than they really need to.

Billshrink makes it simpler to compare what you need and what you already have to what suppliers are offering. This translates to significant savings! Check out a sample of their comparison on cell phone plans by Sprint!

Now, isn’t that just how things on the Web should be? So before you sign up with that Verizon Wireless cell phone plans, check out Billshrink!

Billshrink: incredibly useful, simple and most importantly, free!

Polyethylene in face wash?

Doesn't sound too good, right?
But that's the truth when I went through the list of ingredients on this face scrub! And polyethylene is the second major ingredient after water...

So does that make your face as smooth as plastic?
